Local politicians should be ashamed of themselves for the condition of streets in Bay Ridge
June 26th, 2017 10:54 am

Our local politicians are supposed to represent the people of the locality that elected them. They're supposed to improve our way of life. It sems as though they have forgotten their job. It apears they think that improving THEIR way of life is what they believe in. I'm talking about every last one of them. Even if they're not responsible for streets, they should be trying to get whoever is responsible to do their job.
73rd street and 3rd avenue. About a foot deep3rd and 5th avenues as well as the side streets are in terrible shape. You wo...

Crosswalk painted lines or Bay Ridge paper
May 20th, 2017 10:10 am

There's a story in the Bay Ridge Courier, one of the few Bay RIdge stories in that paper, that is trying to show a crappy job painting crosswalk lines. The front cover and pages 2 and 3 have nothing to do with Bay Ridge. Neither does most of the paper. Most of the advertisers aren't either. I don't know why they call it the Bay Ridge Courier, cause there is more about Park Slope and Sunset park. Even the Police Blotter doesn't have the 68th Precinct.

I remember one time when you couldn't get t...

Drivers getting worse in Bay Ridge
May 15th, 2017 11:20 pm

It seems like Bay RIdge is getting worse each day with the dangerous driving. Where are the police? I drive my wife to work each morning and can barely go a few blocks before having someone jump a Stop sign or tailgate or speed around me cause I'm doing the speed limit.

I don't know where they think they're going They will tailgate me and I slow down. Then the honking starts. I'm going the speed limit and am not about to speed so they can go faster. There are four schools that I have to pass where the speed limit is 20 mph. There are stop signs or lights every other block. And no cops to be found. Their shift starts around that time and the drivers seem to know it.

Sometimes a driver will go around me. It's dangerous cause there are school buses all over the place. Last week a guy drove around me but it was a red light. So now he was sitting there on the other side of the double line waiting for the light. Traffic couldn't pass him and he looked like a fool.

They speed at will. T...

New Ferry to Wall street started last week.
May 12th, 2017 8:16 pm

The ferry runs from Rockaway to Wall Street with a stop at Sunset Park, The Sunset park stop in 58th Street and 1st Avenue behind the old Army Terminal. I remember that area very well. I took a ship from there to go to Germany when I got drafted. Also returned there. Very different now.

It's a big pier with plenty of free parking. The ferry is $2.75 each way. and takes about 15 minutes. It's 45 minutes from Rockway making the trip from Rockaway to Wall street about an hour. There are reduce...
