Vincent Gentile is asking again for a break in the tolls for Brooklyn like Staten Islanders get on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Staten Island residents with EZ-Pass pays just $5.74 to cross the bridge. People without a Staten Island residency pay $11.52 with EZ-Pass.
I agree. If they can do it for Staten Island residents, they could do it for Brooklyn as well. But then Queens and the other two boroughs will be asking for the same. I always said we shouldn't have to pay ANY toll to go from one borough to another in NYC, but that's in place and will never be undone.
They couldn't afford to lose that much money. How will they pay for union members pensions and benefits then? I'm sure that's where all the money is going. It sure isn't to make repairs, the bridge is a mess.
I guess we're just stuck with it.
