WORLD AIDS DAY AT LFHC CARIBBEAN-AMERICAN
On December 1, the Lutheran Family Health Centers’ Caribbean-American site in collaboration with the Caribbean Women’s Health Association, Inc. will host a World AIDS Day event themed Focus, Partner and Achieve: An AIDS Free Generation! The event is an effort to highlight HIV/AIDS prevention and will be held at 3414 Church Avenue. From 2 to 3 p.m. there will be an outreach and candle march followed by guest speakers and patient education from 3 to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The Ridge Creative Center in partnership with the Scandinavian East Coast Museum will be hosting their annual Santa Lucia Fest and Scandinavian Traditions at the First Free Evangelical Church on 66th Street and Sixth Avenue. Children are welcome to participate in the procession and will be practicing on Thursday, December 11th and Friday, December 12th at TRCC, from 3:00 - 4:00 for the cost of $20. The community is welcome attend the procession. The procession will be followed by cookie making and an art project. The cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children. All activities are free to those who participate in the procession.

MEMORIAL FOR THE HOMELESS IN BROOKLYN
On December 16, Lutheran Family Health Centers’ Community Medicine Program, in coordination with the NYC Providers of Health Care for the Homeless and National Health Care for the Homeless Council, will host its 11th annual interfaith service in honor of National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day at the Lutheran Augustana Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation (5435 2nd Avenue) from 9 to 11 a.m. The program will be held in the chapel on the first floor and will include prayers, music and storytelling. Larry McReynolds, president of Lutheran Family Health Centers, and Bobby Watts, executive director of Care for the Homeless, will serve as guest speakers. Don Stiger, Lutheran HealthCare’s SVP, Mission and Spiritual Care, will give homily.
