Hey Bay Ridge really enjoyed the site. My mom was telling me about it today. I grew up on 57th st. and 8th ave, over Terry's Tavern. Moved away in 1990 fortunate for me last few times I was there(the neighborhood) the place was not the same at all. It was great to go by shore road, owls head park and Ft. Hamilton park and of course had to have the pizza...lots of pizza!!!!!!I was still a pup when I left only a freshman out of FDR High School. Don't miss the smog but miss the people, Pizza and seasons for sure. Miss being a kid and playing in the fire hidrants there are so many memories that no one in other locations would experience. Never forget the haloweens with the shaving cream and eggs!!

Spring has finally sprung way up in the White Mts! The mountains are so beautiful decked out in all their greenery, with the high northern areas still have the peaks of white. The rivers are all high and flowing quickly from the spring thaw. Recently I drove up my old street (72nd bet Col.& Narrows)
and saw the new trees planted after the tornado took the old ones and thought about how much I love Bay Ridge and what a great place for my entire generations of family to have lived and died. There will always be a warm place in my heart for Bay Ridge and all my memories. Thank-you Bay Ridge-Thank-you

When I got married I moved to Queens. I later had a baby and eventually divorced. I wanted to come back to Brooklyn because I missed the community neighborhood feeling and wanted to raise my daughter in a family atmosphere around people who weren't TOO liberal although I myself was. I could think of no other neighborhood in Brooklyn that had that. So in 1991 we came to Bay Ridge. I of course knew the area well since the 70's and loved all the treelined streets and homes... and the 'ginger bread house" at 83 Street and Narrows. I have been out and around here at all times of the day and night and have always felt safe. You never have to leave Bay Ridge to go out on the town as we have numerous restaurants (restaurant row on 3rd ave and 5th ave, bars and more and indeed some people do just about everything right here. The Ridge is a blessing and so are the many varied people who live here.

Just wanted to say hi.

Married and living in California. I still keep touch with Tim Curran and Chris Stottman.

It has been a long time since I was back. I remember hanging out at Ruthies, The perch down by the water, Shore Road park... smoking... Bud "Nips", just to name a few.

Lived on Shore Road, 99th Street, 91st Street, Oliver Street.

However, I believe that I have forgotten much more than I ever remembered. So much lost. I'd love to hear from anyone.

I am at an age, when reminiscing on my younger years, seems to occupy my thoughts more & more. I was born and raised in Bay Ridge / Sunset park. I grew up on 51rst street, btwn 4th & 3rd avenues in the early 70's.

So much outside activity back then... Stickball, Hide The belt, Tag, Horsey, Skelzies. These days...the kids would rather have a playstation joystick or keyboard and call that exertion.

It saddens me that social interaction among kids these days in the area, has gone down to almost non-existent. I understand how times change, but how can human physical interaction convert to almost exclusive electronic interaction and socialization???? People now actually schedule PLAY DATES !!!! I say get bent. Let kids be kids. Ofcourse we must be ever vigilant about where they are and who they interact with, but the gist of my little muse is let kids be kids!!!

We would fall and scrape a knee, get a black-eye, no big deal. Dust ourselves off, and keep on playing!!! These days...a kid falls and the gene deficient parents, want to sue someone or the city!!!

God, I miss those days. True childhood friends, close communities, it was ideal in my book. The cops that patrolled our area would always stop and say hello and actually cared about the neighborhood.

Jeezzzzzz. I sound like I am in my 70's! I guess, I miss the simplier...truer times back then. Sigh.

Domini, do you remember me, your favorite test subject, Pat Frizz? Man, you and your mean crew ruined my teen years. Pat Frizz, sigh, I was nicked by that vile name...what unstable hormones'll do to ya, huh? Never thought those days would pass, but at least, I did. And though a groupie on the periphery, I became a dance star in BFish. Now I've got my own groupies...uh, groupers. Great fish.

Love to ya! How's George? And Greg Damon-- he always hated me. Hope you haven't lost that fun aspect...I was so silly back then, trying to get with the program. Darkly beautiful, you were always my idol.

Lived in Bay Ridge until 1976. Grew up on Ovington Ave. - recently saw pictures of houses on Ovington on the Forgotten NY site. Of note were two, Nos. 425 and 457. 425 was originally Bay Ridge Hospital where my husband was born in 1933 and 457 was the home of a classmate (Valentina Argulara). We graduated from OLA in 1950.
